The interior of the chamber of this dolmen is represented in Plate III. It is constructed partly of rounded boulders and partly of broken blocks of stone, and has the following length, 12 feet 9 inches; breadth at back, 6 feet 10 inches; breadth at front, 5 feet 5 inches; height, 7 feet 3 inches. Its roof consists of three large stones. Plate IV. represents a dolmen of Class II., with one side of the gallery in a line with the east wall of the chamber. This dolmen is a fine specimen of megalithic structure, and is one of the few in the province of Kawachi which still contain a hewn stone sarcophagus. It is one of a rather scattered group which occurs on the hill called Domyoji-yama, near the village of Kokubu. Several of the stones, both of its walls and roof, are of a very large size, and all are rude weathered blocks untouched by the chisel. The total length of the dolmen internally is 22 feet, the chamber being 11 feet 3 inches long, 6 feet broad, and 6 feet 1 inch high, and the gallery 10 feet 9 inches long, 5 feet 5 inches broad, and 5 feet 4 inches high. In the middle of the chamber, placed longitudinally, is a sarcophagus of carefully hewn stone (a volcanic tuff), the coffer and the cover each being cutout of a single block. The interior of the coffer is 5 feet 7 inches long, 2 feet 2 inches broad, and 1 foot 3 inches deep. Its sides are 7 inches, and its bottom 1 foot 3 inches in thickness.
