Description:The Tenth Anniversary of the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop, 2011-2021. Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop (MPWW) extends Minnesota's vibrant literary community to incarcerated men and women. Through high-quality creative writing classes, a one-to-one mail mentor program, and related programming, MPWW fosters literary community and a devotion to art inside of Minnesota's state prisons. Since our founding in 2011, instructors have taught over 100 creative writing classes to more than 1,000 students in all of the state's adult correctional facilities. Once students have completed a class, they are eligible to join our thriving Mentor Program, in which incarcerated writers are paired with writers and editors in the community. We also publish an annual print anthology of student writing, which is curated by an editorial board of incarcerated students. For many writers, the journal is the first time they see their creative work in print.
