In its preparation the author is m debted verr much to Mrs. Crosby, who gave all the pa I'vers. Records and documents left bv her late husband, Captain William Crosby, relating to the company, its formation. Authority for organization. Etc., also the loan of the private diaries of Captain Crosby, for the years of and 1864. These were invaluable in con clusivelv settling records and dates of events and in no f)tllcr way could have been obtained a knowledge of many of the facts gathered in this compilation.
