Many of the family, not fully appreciating the importance of these details, have not given them in the records sent, notwithstanding the explicit requests in my letters and circulars; and in very many instances have reported names merely, omitting all dates; and it has been only by subsequent and oft-repeated explicit solicitations, that I have been able, at last, to obtain them.
