David Joseph Marcou
4.9/5 (16525 ratings)
Description:The documentary photos and writings of David Joseph Marcou have required real courage. David has believed in his photos as much as his writings and continues very actively with both 40-some years on.David taught photography and writing for Western Technical College’s Extended Education classes, 1991–2002. He also lived in and reported from London and Seoul in the 1980s.David Marcou believes his greatest work successes are inclusion of his photos and writings in leading periodicals, books, libraries/archives, and museums (including his photos of and 18 letters from St. Teresa of Calcutta); and his authorship of 132 books so far. This volume includes some of his best international reporting: 11 of his best book reviews from British Heritage magazine, his Mark Twain–like essay about imperialism, and his essay about Frank Devine. As a U.S. 1st Division Marine in 1950, Devine fought at Inchon, Seoul (Silver Star), and the Chosun Reservoir; and he was wounded twice. Frank and his widow, Mary Voter Devine, were lifelong friends of David’s parents.About 100 beautifully reproduced black-and-white photos are also in this volume, mainly taken by David in England, South Korea, and the Philippines. One of his favorite images is of two little girls chit-chatting as they put on their winter coats at London’s Canonbury Day Centre. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
