Inside the resurrected spirit core of the new creation believer is the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16, 6:19), the divine nature (2 Pet. 1:4) , all that God is (John 17:23 / Col. 2:9), the incorruptible seed of the Word of Almighty God (1 Pet. 1:23), and eternal life (John 6:54). The paradox exists in our understanding. God has made us right with Him because of The Cross, the blood, and the name of Jesus but we struggle to live that out because we have been taught that sanctification is work that we do. We lengthen skirts, wear doilies on our heads. Our badge of holiness is the adage that, "we don't smoke, we don't chew, and we don't hang out with those who do." How sad! Jesus hung out with those who did. We do cooperate with the Most High God as fellow laborers (1 Cor. 3:9) in His kingdom and will being established on earth as it is in Heaven BUT sanctification is first and foremost His work and not ours. He has already made us His children forever (Eph. 2:7/1 John 3:1). At the moment of salvation. Sanctification is the process of our outside (mind, will, emotions, body) catching up with our inside.
