Description:I had to read this book for my research assisting job.It's...um...goofy as hell. It was also written in 1947, so what did I expect?The plot is thin, the characters are silly, and nothing really happens. It's the story of a "young aunt" who takes her 3 child-charges to the family farm in Virginia (they all lived in New York City) while their parents go to an engineering job site in South America for 2 years.The kids wear bluejeans and engage in appropriately upper-class rural behavior. They ride horses, hunt, fish, breed dogs, and treat their "negro caretaker family" kindly.If I hadn't been paid to read it, there is NO WAY I would have read this book.
