Description:A Compilation of the Messages and Papers of the Confederacy, including the diplomatic correspondence 1861 - 1865 by James D. Richardson in a two-volume set originally published in 1904, this being the 3rd edition, 1906, in half red leather and black leather in very good condition. This is the only 1906 edition I could find. Bookfinder lists two 1905 editions, though not in as good condition, making this 1906 edition very rare, despite the 2" split to the front hinge on vol II, which is also missing the front title page, and, the piece missing from the title page of vol I, but both have sound bindings and are quite readable, and they have been priced accordingly. Very Good Condition. Hardcover, leather, half red gilt spine decorations, two-volume set, 3rd edition, 1906, X-library, VG. Paper slightly tanned from age, title page of volume 1 small piece missing, volume 2 lacks title page, no other tears, spots or markings, 2" split to front hinge to volume 2. James D. Richardson.
