There’s cerebral Julio DeRossi and his kid brother Franky, goofball Fat Tony Reggino and his sidekick Vinny Laconti, operatic Eugenio DiPasquale, juiced war hero Robbie Parnell, and dashing futbol-star-turned-priest Father Tito Vincini. Along with their love of good food, strong drink, and fast money, the Port Jackson paisans share something else in common – a dread of the local mug gone bad, Moe Maccarone. A made man, Moe Maccarone is a short, fat stugotz with silk shirts open to his navel. Dubbed the Coney Island Cockroach, he returns to Port Jackson in upstate New York every five years to extort protection money and punish the locals, who did him wrong. The ne’er-do-well paisans vow to crush the Coney Island Cockroach and embark on a series of capers that turn into comedies of error. To bring the Cockroach to his knees, the paisans decide to fix the ninety-ninth running of The Empire Stakes at the famous Saratoga Racetrack.
